Rebel Wilson

Such a funny interview!

I’m definitely not going to see Bachelorette because it looks terrible, but I will probably see Pitch Perfect (a film Rebel is also in) because:

  1. Singing
  2. Is it a parody?
  3. Can a film achieve camp intentionally?

Amateur music hour! And I mean that in a “these are non-professionals who are amazing” kind of way.

This kid is so good!

Ok, so GQ is actually semi-professional.  They competed at the 2012 Mid-Atlantic Harmony Sweepstakes and in Singstrong’s ACA-Idol competition.

Even though this makes me laugh, I still think it is good.  New Zealand accents are just hilarious to me.

Pentatonix Covers Goyte

I knew this song would sound amazing a capella!

Pentatonix won The Sing Off last year.  I can’t wait to hear more from them!

If you like a capella music, the International Championship of Collegiate A capella (ICCAs) are going on now and there are tons of videos from this year and the past couple years (just youtube “2011 ICCAs a capella”). Also, this blog follows the competition.

Last year the Vanderbilt University Melodores won 3rd place overall and were the ICCA Wild Card Champions:

Florence and the Machine

One of my favorite songs ever is Florence and the Machine’s Cosmic Love.  It is dramatic and powerful and epic!

Last year, I attended the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella’s (ICCA’s) Southern (or maybe mid-Atlantic) regionals at Johns Hopkins.  I was there to support my friends (as a former a capella-ist myself), and they did a great job, but I was blown away by The Octopodes’ (who are from JHU) rendition of Cosmic Love. Fantastic choreography!
